SAN JOSE – A man was killed in a solo-vehicle collision near Kelley Park in San Jose on Friday morning, authorities said.
The crash was reported near Senter Road and Needles Drive about 7:30 a.m., said San Jose police Officer Gina Tepoorten.
Tepoorten said an initial investigation found that the man was driving a white Toyota Camry northbound on Senter Road at a high rate of speed when he lost control, swerved onto the center median and collided with a tree.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity will be released by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office once it has been confirmed and his next of kin is notified.
So far this year, 26 people have died in traffic collisions on city streets, Tepoorten said. The city had recorded the same number of fatal crashes at this point last year.
Anyone with information about the crash can contact Detective Matt Templemen at 408-277-4654.
