SAN JOSE – Authorities on Tuesday identified a man shot to death in East San Jose over the weekend.
The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 24-year-old Jose Castaneda Sandoval. His city of residence was not immediately available.
At about 10:25 p.m. Saturday, San Jose officers found Sandoval suffering from at least one gunshot wound on the 1700 block of Story Road, according to Sgt. Enrique Garcia. Sandoval was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The motive and circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation. No suspects have been arrested or identified.
The death marked the city’s 22nd homicide of 2019. At this point last year, the city had recorded 18.
