Police investigate shooting south of UC Berkeley

BERKELEY — Investigators are investigating after an injury shooting just south of the University of California-Berkeley campus, authorities said.

Just after 2:35 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 2400 block of Durant Avenue in the city’s Southside neighborhood. When they arrived, officers found a person suffering from at least one gunshot wound, Berkeley police Officer Byron White said Sunday evening.

After receiving treatment, the person was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, White said.

University of California police also responded, closing off the scene to traffic around 3 a.m. before re-opening it shortly after 6:30 a.m.
