NFL picks, Week 14: 49ers, Raiders win; Cowboys top Bears

Long story short, you can’t win them all, but it’s amazing how close you can get to losing them all like last week’s NFL picks. Here’s how we’ll rebound in Week 14:

49ers 27, Saints 24: Hey, the 49ers finally get the ball back after last Sunday’s fourth-and-1 incompletion, and, sure enough, they prevail in a fellow Super Bowl contender’s house. Line: 49ers +2 1/2

Raiders 26, Titans 24: It’s the Raiders’ penultimate game in Oakland. Translation: The party will be like when their 2002 team won a Super Bowl berth by knocking out the visiting Titans. Line: Raiders +2 1/2

Cowboys 23, Bears 16: If the Bears were a flash in the pan last year under first-year coach Matt Nagy and face plant this month, might they be tempted to bring back former linebacker Ron Rivera as their 2020 coach? Line: Cowboys -3

Falcons 26, Panthers 21: The Rivera-less Panthers don’t get the interim-coach bounce and instead lose their fifth straight to Atlanta (and fifth straight overall this season). Line: Falcons -3

Bills 20, Ravens 16: The Bills entered with a  95-percent chance of making the playoffs, so may as well get started on knocking off the potential No. 1 seed. Line: Bills +5 1/2

Browns 23, Bengals 17: The Bengals got off the schneid last week, so no need to check back in on them until next season. Line: Bengals +8

Packers 23, Washington 17: Look, we can’t pick against the Packers every week, even if they’re facing a suddenly hot NFC East darkhorse. Line: Redskins +13

Texans 27, Broncos 17: Didn’t you see what the Texans did to the Patriots on Sunday night (until the final minutes, at least)? Line: Texans -9 1/2

Vikings 33, Lions 14: Good teams rebound from tough defeats, as Minnesota does after its Seattle episode. Line: Vikings -13

Dolphins 27, Jets 20: Adam Gase falls to 0-2 against his former team, and, OK, this time it validates him being fired (which he was asked if it was true after last month’s loss). Line: Dolphins +5 1/2

Bucs 29, Colts 17: After starting 5-2, the Colts move to 1-5 since then. Tampa avoids falling to 1-5 at home. Line: Bucs -3

Chargers 24, Jaguars 21: Restarting Minshew Mania is not the answer, not when ex-Jaguars coach Gus Bradley comes back to Jacksonville to unleash the Chargers pass rush. Line: Jaguars +3

Cardinals 25, Steelers 24: Undrafted Steelers rookie Devlin Hodges can’t overtake No. 1 overall draft pick Kyler Murray. Line: Cardinals +2 1/2

Patriots 27, Chiefs 20: Passing of the torch? Not so fast. Tom Brady and the Patriots offense simply do their job better than Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. Line: Patriots -3

Rams 23, Seahawks 14: A Hollywood ending could be coming to the Rams’ season in terms of a wild-card berth? Line: Rams -1

Eagles 26, Giants 24: A year to the day since Eli Manning’s last win as the Giants quarterback, he returns to the starting lineup but can’t pull off a potential last win to his career. Line: Giants + 9 1/2

Last week: 4-12 straight up, 2-13-1 against the spread

Season: 108-83-1 straight up, 97-94-1 against the spread.
