Dems’ proposed fixes onkey issues our only hope
Re: “Climate change town halls: Democratic candidates don’t back down” (Page A5, Sept. 5):
Now that the planet is burning, government is mean and dysfunctional and profit reigns supreme, perhaps we are beyond science and reason and debate. So, I will distill this letter to its pure essence and skip the learned arguments:
-Democratic establishment — Bad.-Republican establishment — Really bad.-Corporate interests — Really, really bad.-Progressive solutions — Really, really, really good.
Or, put another way, the solutions proposed by the progressives, as championed by Sanders and Warren, are the only ones on the table and in the foreseeable future of sufficient scope and depth to address the sweeping and critical issues of our day: Green New Deal (good green energy and jobs), single-payer health (efficient health not profitable care), and publicly financed elections (people not corporate-owned politicians).
