The Contra Costa Sheriff’s Officer coroner’s division identified the body found in a park last week as a missing East Bay man, authorities said this weekend.
Around 5:15 p.m. last Thursday, a hiker in a remote park of John Henry Johnson Park south of Pittsburg reported finding the body. Coroner’s staff responded, taking custody of the body to conduct an autopsy.
In a statement Saturday afternoon, the sheriff’s officer identified the body as Kyle Beard, 35, of Brentwood.
Beard had been missing since leaving his Pittsburg family home Oct. 8 without his glasses, cell phone or identification, and had been last seen near Railroad Avenue and Buchanan Road.
In a social-media group created last month to update a diligent and devoted community of family, friends and community members on the case, many shared memories of Beard.
According to a post, group members had planned to meet Saturday morning in Pittsburg’s Buchanan Park to canvass for clues.
