A San Francisco woman and her 7-year-old son were killed on Sunday when they were buried by snow that slid off the roof of the ski resort where they were staying, police said.
The victims were identified as 50-year-old Olga Perkovic and her son, Aaron Goldstein, the Alpine County Sheriff’s office said. Perkovic was on vacation at the Kirkwood Mountain Resort in Alpine County with her mother and three children.
Perkovic and her son were reported missing Sunday at 6:40 p.m., police said, and they were last seen near chair seven, where they boarded the lift around 4 p.m.
Perkovic and her son skied a route that brought them through a wooded area into the condominium complex, police said.
