SAN JOSE — Authorities are searching for a motorist who hit a 12-year-old girl in a crosswalk and drove off.
Captured on surveillance camera, the collision occurred about 8:45 a.m. Monday at North 17th and East Julian streets, said Sgt. Enrique Garcia of the San Jose Police Department.
The footage shows a brown late 1990s to early 2000s Toyota Camry turning from southbound 17th onto eastbound Julian and hitting the girl as she walks north across Julian in a crosswalk. The impact knocks the girl to the ground. The Toyota stops but drives off seconds later.
The girl was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Garcia.
The driver of the Toyota was described by police as a 40- to 50-year-old white woman with brown hair.
