Orinda: Sun article inspired ‘Creative Synergy’ art show at Orinda Library

ORINDA — May’s art show at the Orinda Library gallery reunites three Lamorinda artists and the title — “Creative Synergy” — was inspired by a 2002 article in the Contra Costa Sun.

The three artists — Susan McKenna List, Camille Young and Dalia Alekna — worked together at “Susan’s Studio” in Lafayette’s La Fiesta Square for several years. List is remembered for her plein air and commission work, Young for her watercolors and Alekna for her pastels and jewelry.

Christina Engelbrecht, in a Jan. 16, 2002, Contra Costa Sun article, described the creative synergy, studio banter and career goals of the three artists. Since then, the three have continued to work and have kept in touch through social media.

The three artists will show original oils, watercolors, pastels and jewelry.

“Creative Synergy” will be shown from May 1-31 at the Orinda Library gallery, 26 Orinda Way. Hours are: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Thursday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday and Saturday; and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. The reception will be held from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. May 6.
