One of two suspects detained after Antioch armed robbery

ANTIOCH — Police detained a man early Monday who they believe may have been one of two involved in an armed robbery.

Officers were called at 1:26 a.m. after a report of a robbery on C Street near West 18th Street, Antioch police Corp. Ted Chang said. According to police, two men armed with guns approached a person walking to a parked car on C Street.

The two men with guns demanded cash, then fled.

The victim called police as the gunmen ran onto Railroad Avenue, Chang said. Officers on a call nearby responded within seconds and found a 28-year-old man that they detained.

He had evidence on him that linked him to the robbery, Chang said.

The second suspect remained on the loose, and police were looking for him.

Police urged anyone with information to call 925-778-2441 and said tips can be texted to 274637.
