CROCKETT — One person was killed and another reported injured Friday morning in a collision between a tractor-trailer and a car on Interstate 80, the California Highway Patrol said.
It was not immediately known if the persons were in the same vehicle.
The collision was reported about 3:55 a.m. Friday in the eastbound lanes of I-80 near the Pomona Street offramp.
Both people injured were transported to a hospital where one of them later died.
What caused the collision is under investigation.
At one point all freeway lanes were closed for about a half-hour.
Before that, about 1:20 a.m. Friday, in the same area of the freeway, a big rig caught fire after it crashed and overturned, the CHP said. It was not clear if anyone was injured in that wreck, which is also under investigation.
Check back for updates.
