A 34-year-old man died over the weekend when his Tesla plunged into a pond in Castro Valley, authorities said.
The incident occurred either Saturday or Sunday at Crow Canyon Road when a man driving a Tesla Model S veered off the roadway, broke through a fence and drove into a pond, said Daniel Jacowitz, a spokesman for the California Highway Patrol.
Authorities received a call about 7:50 p.m. Sunday from a resident who noticed debris damage to their property and suspected a vehicle had crashed into the nearby pond, Jacowitz said.
Keith Leung, of Danville, was identified as the driver and pronounced dead at the scene, said Sgt.
