A San Jose garbage truck driver was struck and killed by his own truck Friday morning, police said.
At 7:54 a.m., police responded to the scene of a collision at the intersection of Camden Avenue and El Paseo Drive. They found a man had been struck by the GreenWaste garbage truck he had been driving that morning. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Investigators are still trying to determine how the collision occurred,” said. Officer Gina Tepoorten.
The name of the driver, who lived in Gustine, has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.
The incident marked San Jose’s 10th traffic-related death of 2018, Tepoorten said.
