Amtrak trains leaving Sacramento on the Capitol Corridor line were delayed Monday morning due to a freight train accident, authorities said.
The incident was reported just before 6 a.m. and it’s affecting trains leaving from Sacramento to San Jose, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Commission.
Service was restored by about 6:10 a.m., but trains leaving from Sacramento and Davis continued to have delays of up to 90 minutes, said Marc Magliari, a spokesman for Amtrak.
The delay started about 3:15 a.m., when an Union Pacific freight train struck a vehicle at a crossing near County Road 105 and County Road 32 A in Davis, said Justin Jacobs, a spokesman for Union Pacific Railroad.
