Another SF manse once owned by Nicolas Cage hits the market for $11 million

Way back when, before Nicolas Cage became Nicolas Cage, he vowed that he would “one day buy my own Victorian mansion in San Francisco.”

In 1989, he did—and his palace became a hangout for the likes of Yoko Ono. (It was listed this past summer.) But apparently Cage had nothing against Tudor Revival architecture either: In 2006, the actor also picked up this stately 1914 property in Russian Hill, plus its adjacent lot, for $9.4 million. Today, the house alone is asking nearly $12 mil.

To call this 6,300-square-foot, four-story estate grand would be understatement—you can see its dramatic arch, wrought-iron gate, Gothic cross and quatrefoil details right from the street. But inside, it’s as a stately a manor as you’ll find in the city, toeing the line between period whimsy and modern living.

Clearly one for over-the top details (Cage’s Pac Heights home featured custom-designed stained glass windows depicting exotic wildlife), the actor’s old living room here is lit by eight geometric windows with stained glass bearing crests and warmed by an ornate fireplace with Grecian-style carvings. But who knows what his kitchen looked like back then—it’s been redone in fully modern fashion.

Upstairs, six total bedrooms are spacious and have their own walk-in closets and en suite baths. The master suite has a pair of dressing rooms, one with Art Deco–style patterns in wood, double mirrors, and built-in shelving. Additional living spaces include a dedicated exercise room, a library, and a wine cellar—so you can toast to your fabulousness as you gaze down at the San Francisco Bay, with views to Alcatraz, Ghirardelli Square, Sausalito, Mt. Tam, and beyond.

Should you need more space, you can snag the adjacent 40×60 foot lot on Hyde Street for an additional $3 million.
