2 injured in Newark house fire

Two people were injured in a house fire Saturday afternoon in the East Bay city of Newark.

The fire started at 2:30 p.m. on the 35900 block of Anjou Place. Alameda County firefighters, Newark police, paramedics and crews from Pacific Gas and Electric Co. worked to prevent it from spreading to other homes. The two residents sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene. They and two other people were displaced.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated, according to a post on the Alameda County Fire Department Instagram account.
