Over the weekend lan Openshaw, 37, of Oakley was shot by Contra Costa County Sheriff Deputies. Contra Costa County law enforcement officials shot and killed a man Saturday night after about two hours of encounters with him involving a standoff, a car chase and threats of suicide. The man called for help hours earlier saying he was suicidal.
Sheriff’s deputies found the man in a vehicle at Lois Lane and Mallard Court in Oakley, but were not able to approach him, Lee said.
After a standoff, the man got back into his vehicle and led sheriff’s deputies to his house in Oakley in the 900 block of Almond Drive, he said.
At that point, sheriff’s deputies and Oakley police officers were at the scene.
The man got out of the vehicle with a gun, and law enforcement officials used unspecified, non-lethal means to prevent him from using it, Lee said.
The man continued to raise his gun so they shot him around 8 p.m., he said.
He was taken to Sutter Delta Medical Center in Antioch where he was pronounced dead.

Pretty sad all the way around. I hope the family and the deputies are able to see their way through.
