The local homeless people in Concord are making a mess of things again. A reader sent in this email explaining how a few of them in his neighborhood are causing problems.

The ill-mannered homeless persons who camp nearby in Newhall Park are upsetting the tenants in Vintage Brook Senor Apartments located at 4672 Melody Drive.

I have regularly complained to police about this problem because these people are not just homeless. They are downright offensive.

Some (most) of them rave and rant sometimes throughout the night (shouting obscenities and yelling as if in pain) and have approached residents (myself included) in a threatening manner by following, shouting and asking for change. They fight amongst themselves almost daily, frightening passerbys away – especially older children who use the park as a shortcut to school and friends houses and senors who walk slow – into staying away.

The parks should be safe secure places for everyone.

Is there a way you can help both sides of the fences here – permanently?

Thanks,

I don’t understand why we keep putting up with this. Sure, we can’t just lock them up for being homeless but when they are disturbing people on a regular basis, the police/city should be doing more to ‘relocate’ these people.

I live around Newhall Park and have yet to encounter these scumbags, but would sign any document if approached to rid our neighborhood of these scumbags. I’m sick and tired of them hanging around.

I also had the RV parked by my home in early June. It took the cops more than 5 complaints before they put a 2nd green tag on it, and the day before it was to be removed they came in the middle of the night and removed it. It was a different RV than what is featured at the Claycord blog, this one had huge Oakland Raider stickers on both sides of the sleeper window over the cab.

[...] last week I posted a note from a reader about the disgust they had for the homeless people in Newhall Park. Every city has homeless people. When I was living in San Francisco, they were on just about every [...]
