Homeless Camp Cleaned Near Newhall Park

Just last week I posted a note from a reader about the disgust they had for the homeless people in Newhall Park. Every city has homeless people. When I was living in San Francisco, they were on just about every corner downtown. Here in Concord, we don’t have nearly as many and for the most part I think they keep to themselves but we do have a handful of ‘trouble makers’ that like to remind us they are still around. Looks like the pleas from the community to move these people did some good. Yesterday I got an email that the Concord Police were in Newhall cleaning up a homeless camp. Thank you Concord Police and other agencies that helped remove these people.
Mr. Concord Blogger aka Mayor o’ Concord,
I wanted to update you to the homeless situation here in Newhall park. The CPD was here this morning and removed an entire camp that was set up. One of the mattresses that was pulled looked brand new. (maybe stolen). I don’t know where these homeless people are going to set up camp now but I am glad they wont be in my backyard yelling at all hours of the day and night.
I have not heard back from the CPD about this for an official response as to what prompted the move yesterday but I appreciate their efforts regardless.
