Free Pancake Breakfast at IHOP

Who can turn down a free breakfast? When Denny’s had the day of FREE Grand Slam breakfast, the restaurant chain had lines out the door. Is the International House of Pancakes going to repeat the success? On Feb. 24th from 7AM to 10PM IHOP will be giving out a free shortstack of pancakes to anyone that eats in their restaurants. All they ask is that if you eat the free pancakes that you make a small donation to a good cause. The donations are to support a charity. Children’s Miracle Network is a non-profit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for children’s hospitals. The 170 Children’s Miracle Network hospitals provide the finest medical care, life-saving research and preventative education to help millions of kids overcome diseases and injuries of every kind.
Known also as Fat Tuesday or Mardi Gras, National Pancake Day dates back several centuries to when the English prepped for fasting during Lent. Strict rules prohibited the eating of all dairy products during Lent, so pancakes were made to use up the supply of eggs, milk, butter and other dairy products…hence the name Pancake Tuesday, or Shrove Tuesday.
Since beginning its National Pancake Day celebration in 2006, IHOP has raised nearly two million dollars to support charities in the communities in which it operates. With your help, we hope to raise $1,000,000 for Children’s Miracle Network in 2009!

I sat in line for 45 minutes for the Denny’s breakfast. I’ll do the same for some free pancakes. I wonder if I can get the chocolate chip ones with a smiley face of whipcream on them.
