Downtown Concord

Being out of a job isn’t all bad. I had a chance to do some things around Concord that I haven’t been able to do in a LONG time like walk around downtown. I got some lunch at the Hot Dog Palace, enjoyed a Palace dog and some Cheese Fries. I know the Hot Dog Palace isn’t fine dining but it holds some good memories. It was my first real job. I had a few minor jobs one at a local comic book store. (Anyone remember PJ’s Stamps and Collectibles?) The Hot Dog Palace used to be run by a family who became like a second family to me. They were good people and about 10 or 12 years ago, they sold the place to the people who run it now.
After reminiscing, I walked over to Peet’s and got my coffee fix. Sure there is a Starbucks on the other block but can you really compare the two?
Thankfully it was a great day in Concord. The sun was out there’s a slight breeze and everything was bright. I spent some time drinking my 4 shot nonfat mocha in the park doing some people watching and enjoying the outside.I was thinking about how much downtown has changed over the years. Baskin and Robbins moved, Nations is gone and the old drug store made room for Peet’s coffee. (Can’t say I’m complaining about that.)
I took a picture of the clock as I drank my coffee and followed up on some emails and Tweets that were needing a response. I saw an old friend probably on their lunch break walking down the street. He seemed like he was in a hurry and I didn’t want to go running across the park to say hi.
So, there were no car chases or robberies but I wanted to just write something up about the great day in Concord. I hope you were able to get out into the sun for a bit and enjoy the day too.

The old downtown was nice but I think the city has made many improvements down there. I take my kids to that playground in the park every week.
