I used to get made fun of by family and friends when I started talking about Twitter back in 2007. Now the service is used by millions of people, celebrities, sports teams and even the government isusing Twitter. I recently came across a few new Contra Costa County Twitter resources that I wanted to pass along to everyone.

Office of the Sheriff, Community Warning System

This is the Twitter profile for the same sms based alert system you may have already signed up for. I don’t know what the ideal situation would be but I use the primary site and follow this profile also.

Contra Costa County Sheriff

There are many police departments in the area using Twitter. It makes sense. Law Enforcement clearly has situations where they need to get public safety information out to the public quickly. It’s nice to see that the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s office has a Twitter account. It doesn’t look like they update it very often but having the profile at least leans to the idea that they are planning on using it in the future.

This is the Twitter feed for Contra Costa Health Services, the Contra Costa County Public Health Department.

I mentioned this profile a while back when I talked about the growing number of Swine Flu cases in the area. This Twitter account is updated often and if you want to know whats happening with the County Health Services or up to date news on the flu in the area, these updates will help.
